Side lying gives access to the neck that supine and prone positioning does not. It presents the mastoid, occiput, and transverse processes of the cervical spine beautifully so that meaningful myofascial can be done easily and affectively at significant muscular attachments. Most LMTs have not had proper instruction on how to work in this position and many have only used side lying occasionally for pregnancy massge. Let me change that!
